A Debutante Ball is a formal presentation of young ladies, debutantes, to
polite society. Debutantes are usually recommended by a distinguished committee
or sponsored by an established member of society. Wearing white gowns and long
satin gloves, the Debutantes are introduced individually to the audience, perform
a curtsy, and promenade the dance floor to a series of formal dances.
It is said that most people who are debutantes are rich upper class individuals.
At Social Graces School of Etiquette we all rank the same. Youth involved in
debuts serve as a mark of their popularity. The Debutante Year is the year
of philanthropic, cultural, and social training, welcoming the debutante into
a world of civic responsibility and social awareness.
